Fallen Oak

by Hewer of Caves

/
1.
The sound was heard 'fore rooster crow-- The thrash of branch and gnaw of saw. The clang of axe's choppings raw-- The sound of Fallen Oak. We take the things not needed for, Straight from the ground to making war. From cuts to cots where we lay sore. The sound of Fallen Oak. We pick the splinters from our hands. We'll never leave this foreign land. For all the roads that we have spanned-- The sound of Fallen Oak. We cut them down to spite the spring. We cut them down to please our king, And turn them into everything. The sound of Fallen Oak. Turned to tower and trebuchet, To storm their walls and leave them slain, Turn their knights into our prey. The sound of Fallen Oak. When the final tree is felled, We'll toss the woodchips in the well. Befoul the water with a spell. The sound of Fallen Oak. -------- Turned to tower and trebuchet, To storm their walls and leave them slain, Turn their knights into our prey. The sound of Fallen Oak. When the final tree is felled, We'll toss the woodchips in the well. Befoul the water with a spell. The sound of Fallen Oak.
